This award was established in 1999 to honor Frank Beamer, an alumnus of the Class of 1969, ODK member, and former Virginia Tech football player, who has demonstrated outstanding athletic leadership to Virginia Tech. As the coach of the Virginia Tech Football Team, he has brought the program to the national spotlight. Along with receiving numerous coaching awards, under his direction, the Hokies have become perennial bowl competitors and had their debut in the 2000 National Championship Bowl Game, while most recently playing in the 2006 Gator Bowl. Throughout his years in this leadership role he has shown a high degree of integrity and humility. It is in this spirit that we wish to recognize an individual who has excelled as a leader in one of the five following areas: Scholarship, Campus, Government, Local and Religious Affairs, Publications, Performing Arts, and Athletics. Any student member of the campus community is eligible and does NOT have to be a member of ODK.
